OT100 Old Testament Survey 3 credit hours This course will provide a survey of the message, important events, people, places, and themes of the Old Testament. The student will gain an understanding of the Biblical background of the Old Testament. This course is required of all students.
OT102 Old Testament Survey 3 credit hours This course offers insight into the life of old Testament characters. The focus is on their obedience and blessing as well as their disobedience and rejection.
OT200 Psalms 3 credit hours An introduction to the Book of Psalms with emphasis on the principles of hymnic literature and the application of these principles in selected portions. Special attention is given to the various forms of the Psalms, their setting within the historical context, and their application to the church today.
OT201 Major Prophets 3 credit hours This course introduces the student to the date, authorship, audience, and purpose of each of the Major Prophets. Special attention is given to the content of each book.
OT203 Job 3 credit hours This course is an in-depth survey of the book of Job that brings Job into today’s pulpit with practical application and theological insights.
OT204 Song of Solomon 3 credit hours This course is a unique course that examines the book from four different perspectives: 1) Historical – Solomon and his wife; 2) Practical – man and wife principles; 3) Theological – God and the nation of Israel’s relationship; and 4) Christological – Christ and the Church’s relationship.
OT301 Pentateuch 3 credit hours This course deals with the first five books of the Old Testament. Special attention is given to the problems of early Israelite history and the development of the Hebrew Law. Required of all students.
OT304 Isaiah 3 credit hours This course begins with a critical introduction to the book of Isaiah. Great attention is given to the Jews’ rejection of the Messiah, the resulting punishments, the remnant, and the glories of the Millennial Kingdom. The class will examine the role of the perfect Redeemer and prove that only Christ could meet the requirements. The prophecies relating to restored Israel are covered in detail.
OT305 Jeremiah 3 credit hours This course will examine the call, the life, and the ministry of the prophet Jeremiah. It will provide a critical and in-depth comparison of Jeremiah’s ministry during the reign of different kings.
OT306 Daniel 3 credit hours The course begins with an in-depth introduction to Daniel and its place in the OT canon. Particular detail is given to the two languages of the book, the purpose of the book, the dating of the book, and Daniel’s educational background. Each chapter is explored in detail. NEW TESTAMENT
NT100 New Testament Survey 3 credit hours This course deals with the introduction to History, Literature, and Theology of the New Testament. Attention will be given to the mission and message of Jesus. Also will include the life and letters of Paul. The student will gain an understanding of the Biblical background of the New Testament.
NT101 Survey of the Gospels 3 credit hours The course consists of an analytical study of the books of the four Gospel writers. Emphasis is placed upon each book’s contribution to God’s revelation of the earthly life and ministry of Christ. Examination of the details surrounding the birth, infancy, and childhood of Christ will be presented.
NT102 Matthew 3 credit hours This course examines Matthew in a verse-by-verse style. Special attention is given to the authorship, date, audience, and theme of the gospel. The Roman Catholic teaching concerning Mary is refuted, and the virgin birth is examined. The course gives close examination to the parables, prophetic sections, the Olivet Discourse, the crucifixion, and the events that led to the crucifixion.
NT201 Acts of the Apostles 3 credit hours The course focuses on the birth of the church, the day of Pentecost, the role of the church, and the founders of the church. The gift of tongues is examined from a Scriptural perspective. Focus is upon the missionary journeys of Paul and upon his writings and teachings. The early days of the church are examined most carefully.
NT202 Romans 3 credit hours The course is an exposition of Paul’s most well read epistle that emphasizes both the doctrinal and practical aspects of the book, making Romans fully applicable to all of today’s saints. The student will find this course to be most helpful and informative for defending the Christian faith. An exegetical course of Paul’s systematic argument as to the sinfulness of human beings, the righteous of God, and the justification by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Practical application of the Doctrinal teaching will be stressed
NT202 Ephesians 3 credit hours The course will provide an in-depth study of one of Paul’s epistles. The course is designed to give a brief historical and critical introduction of life of the early church in Ephesus as it relates to today’s Christian.
NT203 Hebrews 3 credit hours The course is an in-depth survey of the book of Hebrews and emphasizes many aspects of the book including: the person and deity of Jesus Christ; the ministry of Jesus as high Priest; the importance of the local church; the demonstration of the faithfulness of Jesus Christ; the superiority of Jesus over the Mosaic system; and the superiority of Jesus over the angels.
NT301 The Letters of Paul 3 credit hours This course will be a survey of the Pauline letters. It will also provide the student with the basic foundation for understanding of Paul’s theology.
NT304 The Gospel of John 3 credit hours Analysis, exegesis, and exposition of the fourth Gospel. Special consideration will be given to the presentation of Jesus as the Godman, interpretation of signs or miracles; and Passion Week and His resurrection.
NT305 Exploring Revelations 3 credit hours A study of anyone wanting to explore the meaning of God’s Word in greater depth. This course is a doctrinally sound interpretation that emphasizes the practical application of Bible truth. PASTORAL STUDIES
PS103 Ministerial Ethics 3 credit hours This course will provide pastors and preachers with information about the moral role of the minister in society. It also deals with family life and the minister’s relationship with other ministers.
PS203 Homiletics 3 credit hours This course deals with sermon preparation, development, and sermon delivery. Also included in this study is the examination of the place of preaching in the Minister’s work and of the purpose of preaching. This course is required of all ministers.
PS302 Pastoral Ministry 3 credit hours Investigation of the role and function of the Pastor. Attention will be given to the Pastor’s understanding of himself and his call and his relationship to the church and the community. The course is designed to help the student find the church or work to which God has called the student. The primary emphasis is the call to the office of pastor,
PS304 History of Preaching 3 credit hours A survey of outstanding Christian preachers. Attention will be focused on the preacher’s biography, strengths and weakness in his preaching style and method, and content of selected sermons.
PSTH302 Pastoral Theology 3 credit hours The course is an examination of the pastor of the church and emphasizes his call, aim, purpose, resources, commission, message, walk, reward, and other areas relevant to the pastor’s personal life and suffering. This course examines the many aspects of the ministry, the nature of the church, spiritual leadership, sermon preparation, facing discouragement, and church discipline.
PS400 Shepherding God’s Flock 3 credit hours This course is designed for students of pastoral ministry. It will outline three parts of pastoral ministry - pastoral life, pastoral counseling, pastoral leadership - and a practical approach to these tasks will be developed.
THEOLOGY
TH101 Doctrines 3 credit hours The course is a study and analysis of the major Bible doctrines. It will also help the student understand the doctrine of the Christian faith. It will not take the place of the Bible, but it will help intensify the study of it.
TH301 Systematic Theology 3 credit hours A systematic study of the principal Theological Doctrines of Christian Faith. Doctrines of sin, election, redemption, and eschatology. Required of all students.
TH303 Sociology/Theology 3 credit hours This course deals with methods of Christian Community Development. The author presents both a sociological and a theological point of view on the foundations, the strategy, and ministry of the Christian Community Development. This course is an elective.
TH304 Today’sReligion 3 credit hours This course is designed to give a clear concise reference work that will provide the Christian with practical insight into and comprehensive analysis of today’s cults, the occult, secular, and non-Christian religions.
TH401 Eschatology 3 credit hours The course is an introduction to the complex topic of eschatology, the study of the end times. It focuses primarily upon the events from the rapture until the Great White Throne Judgment. The course is an excellent presentation of a pretribulational rapture view, giving special emphasis to the book of Revelation.
TH402 OT Theology 3 credit hours The course is an examination of the major theological themes presented by each OT author, presenting a theological outline and a time line application.
